At dawn, we venture into the dunes to welcome the first rays of the sun in the Merzouga Desert, a moment of serenity and beauty. After breakfast, we bid farewell to the desert and head towards Rissani to explore its bustling market, a mosaic of colors, smells, and sounds. We then move towards Erfoud, with an option to visit its fascinating fossilized marble factory. The route takes us to the Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon where rock walls rise imposingly around us. We continue to the Dadès Valley, known as the Valley of Figs, a paradise of natural contrasts, culminating our day in the same Dadès Gorges for dinner and rest.
After a breakfast with views in the Dadès Gorges, we head towards the Roses Valley, a tapestry of colors and scents. The route takes us through the Thousand Kasbahs route, a journey that showcases the region’s architectural and cultural richness. We visit the impressive Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting of famous movies, immersing ourselves in a world where history meets cinema. Our next stop is Ouarzazate, Morocco’s Hollywood, before crossing the majestic High Atlas mountains towards Marrakech, a dream city where magic and history intertwine at every corner. Our arrival in Marrakech marks the end of a journey filled with discoveries and natural wonders.
We will begin our journey by picking you up from your accommodation in Fez at 8 a.m. Our first leg will take us southward, crossing the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains to reach Ifrane, nicknamed «the Little Moroccan Switzerland». There, we will stop to admire the Atlas lion’s stone statue, perfect for some photographs. Next, we will traverse the ancient cedar forests, where we will have the chance to interact with and feed the Gibraltar monkeys. After lunch in Midélt, we will head towards the extensive Ziz Valley, known for its impressive palm grove. The day will culminate with our arrival at the Merzouga Desert, where we will be welcomed with a hospitality tea at our hotel. We will venture to the nearby dunes to enjoy a relaxing and spectacular sunset, followed by dinner and accommodation in a hotel close to the Erg Chebbi dunes.
After a nourishing breakfast, we will encircle Erg Chebbi, a vast area of dunes that includes Morocco’s Grand Dune. We will explore part of the route of the former Paris-Dakar Rally and admire views of the mountains bordering Algeria. We will make a stop at the Tissardmin oasis, renowned for its fossils, and then visit a nomadic settlement to learn more about their traditions and lifestyle. In the Mali-origin village of Khamlia, we will relax with tea while enjoying a Gnawa spiritual music concert. Later, we will start an exciting camel caravan towards the heart of the dunes to witness an unforgettable sunset. We will spend the night in haimas, experiencing an authentic nomadic life under a starry sky.
Our last day will begin with a breathtaking desert sunrise. I will suggest getting up early to walk to the highest dune near the camp to enjoy the sunrise. After breakfast in Merzouga, we will start our return journey northward. We will pass again through the Tafilalet Palm Grove and the Ziz Valley, making a stop to observe the valley from a high point. In Midelt, in the heart of the Atlas, we will take a break to rest and have lunch. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey passing again through the Cedar Forest. Our arrival in Fez will be around 6 p.m., thus concluding our trip with the transfer back to your hotel.
